Fresh from scoring for in Bank Holiday Monday’s 1-1 draw with
Boldmere St.Michaels, forward Jack Edwards is relishing the opportunity
to play in Saturday’s FA Cup clash against Nuneaton Borough FC writes Dan Hargraves.

The match has been labelled as the club’s
biggest fixture in City’s history and Edwards is adamant that he and those
involved with the club are going to relish the opportunity.

“The FA Cup is obviously one of the most prestigious cups”, said the
25-year-old.

“I’m a Liverpool fan myself and they’ve always been quite
successful [in the FA Cup]. One of my first memories was going to a game
with my younger brother and my dad, I think it was against Middlesbrough
at home.

“It’s one of the biggest games for the club in its history and
it’s definitely exciting to be a part of that having not been at
Lichfield City very long. The position that we are in is certainly an
exciting one for sure.”

The summer addition also said: “I think I speak on behalf of myself
and the lads where it’s just pure excitement really. I feel like
we’ve got nothing to lose from the game. We try to play an exciting
brand of football and, hopefully, all the fans coming down to the ground
can see that first-hand on Saturday and throughout the season.

“Myself and the lads have spoken about trying to attract more people
down to the ground and hopefully we can do that with our results and
this fixture is going to give fans an incentive to come down and give us
a watch. Hopefully, we can put on a show for them and if we get as many
people down as possible, it will make a difference for sure.

“Obviously, it’s going to be a tough game against Nuneaton Borough.
We know what they are all about but we know the job we have to do and
hopefully, we can put on a show for the fans when they come down on
Saturday.”

After scoring on Monday, the forward has his sights on another
goal this weekend, however, stated that the main goal is to win the
match.

The City player added: “It would be absolutely huge [to score].
Obviously, it’s going to be a massive day for the club and we’ve got
a great bunch of lads. Although it would mean an awful lot for me to
score, as long as we win on Saturday I’d take that over any personal
goals.”
