City eased into the next round of the JW Hunt Cup with a win on the road at Bridgnorth.
Jake Edwards was looking to continue his run of goals with an early chance that went over the top.
But City didn’t have to wait long for the opener as a neat move ended with Max Dixon rifling home a low shot from distance.
The hosts sent an effort wide as they looked to restore parity, while Lichfield debutant Sam Walton sent a strike off target at the other end.
Chandler Pegg almost netted a second for City when he beat the keeper to a ball in the air but saw it drop agonisingly wide of the upright.
Edwards was then denied by a smart save from Bridgorth stopper Chris Crook late in the first half.
Lichfield doubled their advantage in the second period when a cross was headed back across goal for Reg Smith to net.
Max Black sent an effort wide and Pegg’s strike was tipped over as Lichfield looked to kill off the tie.
The third goal did eventually arrive when Pegg fired a powerful strike past Crook.
Bridgnorth did pull one back with six minutes left on the clock when Lichfield keeper James Beeson’s clearance was blocked by Nathan Derrick and the ball dropped into the net.
But the last laugh would go to City when Dan Lomas’ strike hit the post and Smith netted the second ball.
